How to Create a Discord Webhook in 4 Simple Steps
Follow these easy steps inside your Discord app to generate a webhook URL:
Edit Channel
Right-click the text channel where you want your announcement to appear and click Edit Channel.
Integrations Tab
In the left menu, select Integrations and click the Webhooks button.
Create Webhook
Click New Webhook. Give it a custom name and profile avatar matching your server theme.
Copy & Dispatch
Click Copy Webhook URL, paste it into our tool above, and hit Send Message via Webhook.
Troubleshooting Discord Webhook 400 Bad Request Errors
If you click send and receive an error from Discord's API, here are the most common causes and how to fix them:
Cause 1: Empty Message Body
Discord requires at least one visible element. If your Message Content, Title, and Description are all blank, Discord rejects the payload. Add at least a title or text to fix it.
Cause 2: Invalid Image or Avatar URL
Discord only accepts direct image links ending in .png, .jpg, .jpeg, or .webp. Web page links (like Imgur galleries or Google Drive links) will cause an API error.
Cause 3: Deleted or Invalid Webhook
If someone deletes the webhook inside Discord channel settings, that URL becomes permanently invalid. Check your channel integrations to ensure the webhook still exists.
Cause 4: Exceeding 6,000 Characters Combined
Even if individual fields are within limits, Discord sums up all text in the author, title, description, fields, and footer. If the combined total exceeds 6,000 characters, shorten the message.
